I just looked up something basic (Uber business model), and alongside AI overviews, Google gave me an AI-generated audio discussion. It’s like a mini podcast explaining everything in about 3-4 minutes of audio conversation shown up as the below SS.

You see, it included source links… but I had zero reason to click them.

So now I can’t stop thinking:

If Google can just answer everything directly (text + audio),

  • Why would anyone visit websites anymore?
  • What happens to SEO & content as an industry?
  • Does Google become the final destination instead of a gateway?

This feels less like a feature and more like a power shift. I know it’s convenient for users. But… at what cost?

What’s your honest take on Google’s new Gen AI features; are we looking at the future of search, or the start of something broken?
