K-Chat | Korean messenger-style AI character chat app for your computer
Hey everyone, I wanted to share K-Chat, a Korean messenger-style AI chat app for your computer.
It has streaming chat bubbles, customizable AI characters, profile images, editable system prompts, memory support, and full add/edit/delete character support directly in the UI. Characters can remember user information and reflect it naturally in future conversations, which makes chats feel much more personal over time.
You can create your own idol, girlfriend/boyfriend vibe, comfort character, language partner, or basically anything you want.
You just add your own OpenAI / Anthropic / Hugging Face API key and you're ready to go.
I’m originally from Korea and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering. I built this in my spare time because I wanted something that felt more personal and emotionally expressive than a generic assistant.
It also works surprisingly well for people learning Korean, since you can freely mix Korean and English depending on the character and prompt setup.
As someone from Korea, I was pleasantly surprised by how natural the Korean conversations can feel with the right character setup.
I also provide ready-to-run Windows .exe builds, so people who aren’t familiar with git clone or development setup can just download and launch it immediately. Linux builds are available too.
