Mine was in New Orleans, Louisiana. I was doing an exchange semester at the time.

It was close to midnight. I was chilling on the front porch with my roommate when a white sedan suddenly slammed to a stop just a few feet away, right in front of my neighbour’s house.

Two masked armed men jumped out - one pointing a pistol at the house, the other holding a Draco (Sub-Machine Gun) also pointed at the house. Note: this was 6 meters away from me and my roommate.

For a split second, I genuinely thought it was a prank since our area was dominated by university students...

Then reality hit.

I froze… made eye contact with the armed men, DIVED TO THE GROUND INSIDE, barely locked the door and crawled behind the kitchen counter and quickly called the cops.

They showed up 30 minutes later.
