It was an anime style flash game with high quality art from several artists. You collected cards of characters and could increase the level and stars of the cards.
I think it was an academy setting, maybe space? but definitely Sci-Fi. You had to fight characters/monsters that were corrupted by something. You could explore in different areas to complete tasks and collect cards. I think you also had a character who was your 'advisor' or something like that? If I remember your character came from a poor background and had saved up to get in, and had a high aptitude or compatibility of some kind.
It was on Kongregate, not sure about other platforms. I think the name may have had Star in it somewhere but not sure.
