I am M22 and have never ran in my life, and played very little amounts of sports that actually require running or cardio.
I am thinking of starting running, but I only want to do it if I know that I have the potential to be good at it. I know not everyone can be elite so I want to know if there are any good proxies to know id I can reach something like a 3 hour marathon.
If you are going to comment something along the lines “don’t worry about your potential start running for fun”, don’t do it. I don’t care about either my cardiovascular health that much nor think running is specifically super fun and the only reason I would do it (or do other stuff in my life) is if I can be good at it.
For reference I ran a 5k recently in 30 minutes on the treadmill for my first run ever. But I understand that one run is not enough to say anything so would be curious about any ways I can tell my potential. Ideally would not want to train more than 3 months to find out the answer.
