We tried to carve one piece a week but missed a week or two. She was able to pass down a ton of her knowledge and stories. The pieces are carved from bass wood and stained to match the chess board my great grandfather made in the 1940s. I still have a lot to learn and she wants to teach me how to carve gnome homes next! Thank you to everyone who commented on all our other posts we loved reading them and learning about all of you around the world.

One week to go until we are finished! I’m not sure my faces are improving as fast as I would like, but I am getting lots of chances to try new techniques. I think after this I might try carving a larger figure to really learn about faces. Carved from bass wood and stained to match my Great grandfathers chess board.
