With Chad, Sam, and Ben
Eve vs 2B (Stellar Blade vs Nier: Automata) Is the cause of the episode title being “AMPLE COMBATANTS”. The artwork is definitely enjoyed. Is told that the Stellar Blade twitter retweeted the image used, and then conveniently put Nier dlc into the game. Thinks it would be fun, Nier: Automata is on Sam’s must play list.
The Nahobino vs The Agent (Shin Megami Tensei V vs Digimon Story Time Stranger) Time Stranger is a badass name. Connections seem good, doesn’t tell them how the fight goes or explain anything. Sam played other SMT but not V. Assumes that the SMT character has some sort of connection between the real world and demon world along with some time stuff. The character designs couldn’t be more opposite. Franchise pairing makes sense and definitely seen it before, but the art style would be so different and look very strange to do.
Dunban vs Baiken (Xenoblade Chronicles vs Guilty Gear) Finds both being one armed swordsmen neat. Sam says he wished DJ was there to tell them about Xenoblade Chronicles because he feels like they just don’t get to the power level of guilty gear. Chad knows a little bit about Baiken and thinks she is cool as hell. Also a very ample combatant. Baiken would be cool to cover. Has seen Dunban before and thinks there was a pitch about him and knows he is a cool swordfighter but doesn’t know much else.
Black Hat vs The Warden (Villanous vs Superjail!) Talked about this before, thinks it was in the galaxy banter. It makes a lot of sense. Superjail! Was such a wild show. Sam says Villanous wasn’t his generation but it seems cool. When you think of powerful cosmic beings these silly guys aren’t normally what you imagine.
Consul N vs Lif (Xenoblade Chronicles vs Fire Emblem) Xenoblade Chronicles again, can’t get away from it. No idea who Lif is. Looks it up and sees Lif is from Heroes only. Ben always forgets Heroes actually has it’s own characters and story instead of just the crossover stuff. Doesn’t look anything like a Fire Emblem character. Most Fire Emblem and Least Fire Emblem design ever.
Tommy Oliver vs Lloyd Garmadon (Power Rangers vs Ninjago) Seem to get a handful of ninjago match ups. Gets the connections, makes a lot of sense. Photo file name is “Green without Envy”. Chad wonders how tall ninjagos are supposed to be, and it makes them chuckle imagining lego sized figure vs human. Ninjago seems to mesh with a lot of stuff and power rangers is a good fit. Ben says he is pretty sure Ninjago doesn’t follow the Lego Movie rules where everything is treated like lego and they can just reattach limbs or heads and stuff. They are supposed to be normal people but just look like lego. Fan estimations have put the Ninjago around 5’7”-6’6”. They think seeing that in real life would be terrifying. They joke that it will be a Live Action battle. Are told that both are in Fortnite and have human models, which stuns the group.
2B vs Lucia (Nier: Automata vs Punishing Gray Raven) Lot of 2B this week, they even had a pitch for her before this. Don’t know Punishing Gray Raven. Connections make sense, could be cool. After looking up the game, Sam somewhat feels like the chinese team for Gray Raven decided to copy the Japanese game of Nier. Ben says he is getting Genshin meets Raid Shadow Legends with a dark sci-fi vibe from looking at screen shots.
Dracula vs Magneto (Castlevania vs Marvel) This is wild.They have no words at first and takes a second to buffer. Gets the connections sort of. Chat says the difference is Dracula is a good dad, which Ben doesn’t fully agree with. Sam seems to think Magneto wins easily because dracula likes drinking blood so magneto just uses the iron in the blood to blow him up. Ben says Dracula has a lot of magic ways around it.
Soundwave vs Nonon (Transformers vs Kill la Kill) They don’t remember Nonon and look them up. Two opposite spectrums of having a transformation in a battle. Realizes both uses soundwaves/music to fight, other than that they have no clue. Chad says throw in Symphogear.
Sora vs Sailor Moon (Kingdom Hearts vs Sailor Moon) Seen this before. Kicks ass pretty hard and is really cool. Sam thinks Sailor Moon absolutely wins.
Joker vs Junko (DC vs Danganronpa) Talked about this one also. Surprised this isn’t more popular than springtrap vs junko. Ben does get why it isn’t as popular, with Joker having a very particular personality that is hard to bounce off other crazies. Does think it makes sense. Chad says it would have to be a gang fight between Joker's goons and the monokumas. Sam asks if Absolute Joker would be a better fit against Junko.
Paul Blart vs Larry Daley (Paul Blart: Mall Cop vs Night at the Museum) the crew simply inhales and says “Ok”. Chad The fight has to take place in the museum, because that is the only interesting thing about Larry. Without that they are just guys.
Casey Jones vs Knuckle Duster (TMNT vs MHA: Vigilantes) Haven’t seen Vigilantes but this is automatically cool on a base level. Casey Jones is a very good underserved street level character no one really talks about. This could be a cool fight for sure. And Knuckle Duster might be on the same level because he doesn’t have a quirk, but says they wouldn’t be surprised if he does have one later. Very similar style characters that would be fun to use with fun personalities to bounce off eachother. Casey is cool as shit and there is a reason he always pops up in turtles media. Like this one a lot. Chat helps saying Knuckle Duster got his quirk stolen by AFO but is insanely strong without it.
Spooky vs SCP-2006 (Spooky’s Jump Scare Mansion vs SCP) Sam has played Spooky, and Chad does recognize seeing the character before. Doesn’t know the SCP but from knowing spooky feels like they understand how the characters are. Connections make it seem really fun. A cool mind thought battle.
Aigis vs Sophie (Persona 3 vs Tales of Graces) Don’t know anything about Tales of Graces. Seems interesting. A lot of android girls in this ballot session.
Mal vs Willow Rosenberg (Descendents vs Buffy the Vampire Slayer) Doesn’t know about Descendents really, or at least Sam has no idea. Chad said Mal is the daughter of Maleficent. Seems cool. Chad had a rant on Descendents on a cast years ago, and Chad said you learn “Everybody be fucking, at the same time apparently” from Descendents. Mal is apparently the daughter of Maleficent and Hades.
Bill Rizer vs Marco Rossi (Contra vs Metal Slug) Had a cool pitch for this. This is dope. Immediately makes sense, simply saying it aloud makes you visualize how the fight would look. Be so much fun and have such a blast with the animation.
The Hunter vs The Ranger (Bloodborne vs Quake) Don’t know a lot about Quake’s story, but the description calls them lovecraftian. Didn’t even know Quake had a story, just remembered the multiplayer. There might be a slight difficulty with the Quake guy having a bunch of guns vs the Hunter’s one hand canon. Would have to add fodder enemies into the fight just to have the quake announcer kick in.
Hat Kid vs Astro Bot (A Hat in Time vs Sony) Feels like they had this very recently. It’s a fun one.
Diavolo vs Shroud (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure vs Dispatch!) Says they talked about this with Liam who gave more context on it. Battle of Clairvoyance would be unique to cover but would be hard to determine because it would boil down to who sees the future further or faster,
Spider-man vs Mega Man (Marvel vs Capcom) Chad is initially taken aback by this, just feels weird in his mind. They then see it much better after thinking about it. “Both are begging for a new appearance on DB so why not kill two birds with one Rock”. It does feel kind of random. Divide by Man and it is Spider vs Mega
Luigi vs Five Nights at Freddy’s (Super Mario vs FNaF) They get a chuckle out of this. Beautiful. Asks if it is “can he survive till six” and say yeah. They think it is kind of fantastic. Feels like he would get caught, but he is still luigi who would dumpster the animatronics. Luigi’s flashlight might drive them away.
V1 vs Cyn (Ultrakill vs Murder Drones) Talked about this a bunch, it is very cool Murder Drones pops up a lot.
Maelle vs Will (Clair Obscure vs Metaphor) talked about this so many times now and had a pitch about this recently. It’s a banger.
Void vs The Shifiting Mound (Kirby vs Slay the Princess) You really wouldn’t think this as a franchise combo. Connections seem solid. Could they do this without doing a meta commentary on echo chambers? Probably not unfortunately but it would be fun.
Charizard vs Rathalos (Pokemon vs Monster Hunter) had a cast on this, it was fun check it out. There are multiple Monster Hunter games coming out around this year and next so might get some more cool rathalos lore. Chad is triggered by pokemon now because he is trying to get his kids some cards and scalpers are just assholes and the prices of them also. “If you are a scalper, fuck you”
Marluxa vs Renne (Trails in the Sky vs Kingdom Hearts) Sam was initially confused and didn’t remember them, only because the person has the thumbnail and franchises backwards “so you lose points”. Feels like maybe put a little room between their last scythe battle, but Chad and Ben said “could never have enough”.
Kenpachi vs Azreal (Bleach vs Blazblue) Interesting franchise combo. Kicks ass and makes so much sense. This fight is just death battle concept. Kenpachi has a lot of good options and they definitely want to bring him on the show, he is just one of those characters that just feels right at home in a show like this. Maybe this is the right one.
Homura Akemi vs Asriel Dreemer (Madoka Magica vs Undertale) Two different Asriels back to back. Whole reason undertale’s game is a thing. Very cool and makes sense. Be a very pretty death battle, and sad.
Asriel Dreemer vs Homura Akemi (Undertale vs Madoka Magica) Same match up but the other way around (really?) Wonders if this was planned. Likes the different art used. The thumbnails have them seem really happy, so it being sad is clearly ridiculous. Sam asks what do you think formed the idea for this mystic purple to symbolize magic. The characters Reset to try again.
Son Goku vs Superman (Dragonball Chapter 1 vs Action Comics 1) Sam is really down for this because the research would be about a day. Both lift cars in their first issue so they would compare the two cars. Sam says the car superman lifted is likely going to be much heavier than the car bulma rides. Yall want to see superman kill a child version of goku?
Flint Lockwood vs Fin Shepard (Cloudy with a chance of meatballs vs Sharknado) had a pitch for this last year, it’s incredible. Sharknado apparently has 8 movies or something. Fin gets this ancient relic that can summon sharknados. Food Science vs Shark Sorcery. It makes a lot of sense. Sharknados are actually a manifestation of the evil shark god who hates humanity. Sam says the more he thinks about this, the more he likes it and hates how cool yet silly it sounds.
Beat vs Cadence (UNBEATABLE vs Necrodancer) Sam played tomb of the necrodancer, and he normally hates rhythm games and sucks at it, he had fun. Sounds fun. Talked a ton about wanting a music driven fight and are happy to see a lot of suggestions for said episode. Lot of production would be needed for it.
Ultraman vs Shinji Ikari (Tsuburaya vs Gainax) Feels like they talked about this before. Kicks a lot of ass. The thumbnail makes it feel very biblical. Ultraman being biblical feels comical to Ben.
Super Mario vs Mickey Mouse (Super Mario Bros vs Mickey and Fiends) Yeah i mean sure. That response from Sam gets Chad and Ben to laugh. It makes sense. What can they say that hasn’t been said. Yall get this.
Rita vs Taro Sakamoto (Kindergarten WARS vs Sakamoto Days) Makes sense, talked about this before. Art looks awesome. Fight makes sense and kicks ass. Weirdest take of john wick vs john wick you can make, and they are here for it.
