Completed My First S-Video Mod | Magnavox MWC13D6
I purchased my first cheap CRT a few weeks ago, but quickly learned that composite video sucks hard. This TV only has composite and RF, so I scoured the internet on ways to add RGB or S-Video and stumbled across this subreddit.
RGB is not possible with this TV (yet?), but S-Video is doable since the built-in DVD drive delivers S-Video internally. Only issue was that there wasn't a complete guide on this TV. A "similar" model exists, the MWC13D5, so I followed along with that guide on crtdatabase. With a schematic in hand, I began my journey.
I used a 4PDT toggle switch (ON-ON configuration), which lets me switch between DVD internal S-Video and external S-Video input (I really wanted to keep the DVD functionality). Luma, Chroma, L-Audio (mono, cuz this TV only has one speaker), and ground.
Now I can finally use the CRT and enjoy the (marginally) upgraded video quality. I'm done with CRTs now, this is the last one I'll get...
Thanks, crtgaming! Bye.
*EDIT* - My apologies. I didn't think S-Video would be so much better. I will have to do some comparisons and check back in.
