I've had an Apple Watch SE 2 for about three years now, and I'm happy with it in almost every way—except for the battery life, which is a real disaster, even after replacing the battery. I'm sick of always having to keep an eye on the battery or carry a power bank on every hike.
So I’m thinking of replacing it with a more sports-oriented watch like the Coros Pace 4, but I’d like some input before I decide. I do triathlons, climbing (bouldering/routes, multi-pitch), trekking, mountaineering, and ski touring... So a lot of mountain sports.
That said, I never track indoor climbing workouts, and I don’t do much ski touring.
So I’m thinking the Pace 4 might work for me—even if there isn’t a dedicated profile for climbing or mountaineering, maybe I can create a custom one or use the hiking mode? Are the profiles customizable enough?
Finally, I’m wondering about the lack of a base map and a magnetic compass—is that a problem in practice? When trying to find your way or follow a route?
I’m leaning toward the Pace 4 over other models for several reasons:
- I have small wrists (16 cm circumference)
- It’s not very expensive
- It’s not too thick
- It has an OLED screen
Thanks 😄
