i got into NYU and bu and im just questioning my decisions. i love both schools, but i was leaning towards nyu just a bit bc of its ranking, even though im sure rankings vary by major and poli sci certainly isnt nyu’s greatest strength. if i go to nyu, id be living at home to cut 26k in fees and just pay the tuition. if i go to bu, its just a bit less expensive than NYU, but id be living in the dorms (unconfirmed housing tho, hence why im shaky on depositing since they dont tell you until AFTER.)

my family and friends are in nyc and nyu so id never have to worry about that, and i truly do love my city and i plan to live here after grad. but my brother lives in boston, and boston is a huge college town so i dont think itd be too hard to find my people, but id be a transfer and id already be losing all my current friends at my current uni, and idk if i can restart socially like that. im just worried that by choosing NYU (despite my parents assurances that they can pay for it) that im making a mistake. like maybe by living at home, even tho most of my nyc college friends do the same, im not gonna come out well adjusted to anything. like id never be able to rent junior or senior year cause thatd be such an unnecessary expense. i doubt id miss out on too many activities, cause ive got friends who dorm in cooper union and i can always make more and stay out late, but still, its odd.

idk, any nyc resident transferring to nyu going through the same thing? or rly anyone transferring to a college close to home, and maybe living at home. just dunno how to feel, and its convincing me to pick up a diff major to make it feel worth it
