I'm looking for a pair of boots that's mostly for pavement and hiking. I walk my dog A LOT and the soles on the shoes I own start to wear out in less than a year. I bought a pair of Red Wings and the heel end of the soles wore down so much that it's like a noticeable "ramp" to the rest of the sole. Another pair of boots (admittedly cheap ones from Costco for $30) that were weatherproof started leaking in water due to microholes in the soles in less than 6 months.
A friend recommended Timberland Pros but are they too excessive since they're work boots? The ones recommended was Timberland PRO Men's BOA Boondock 6" Composite Toe Work Boot (I can't link since it would get deleted).
Side Question: usually what are the best times of year to purchase boots? Would something like Memorial Day have discounts?
