Fyerio's Fate
I've just finished reading the first book (please no spoilers for book 2). I'm just curious what the common consensus is (or was when only the first book was available) on what happened to Fyerio.
Elphaba seemed convinced he was the scarecrow, but I didn't really see any setup for that, and there wasn't really a payoff for it either? Clearly the musical and the movie was much more direct about it. I'm I right in assuming it wasn't so clear cut in the novel, or am I missing some key details?
Also if he's not Fyerio he's just some random scarecrow? That feels off with both the lion and woodcutter connected to the Thrope sisters.
If there is any literary criticism or analysis on the first book from before all the supplemental materials came out that anyone could direct me to it would also be appreciated.
Note : I listened the audiobook on Audible if that makes any difference. I've seen it on stage as well as watched both movies.
