Can you see the heat you take before you decide *which* quick action you're using for overcharge, or no?

Some other things people have asked that I'm not asking, "can I overcharge and then do my extra quick action later in the turn?" No, "do I take the heat before the quick actions" Yes. What I'm asking is if I can overcharge, see what I roll, and then decide which quick action I want to take as a free action using that information. For instance, let's say I have a grenade and a weapon that takes heat to fire. If I roll low on my overcharge I can still fire the weapon without taking stress, and so would prefer to skirmish. If I roll high then firing the weapon would exceed my heat cap, so I would prefer to use Activate a System to throw my grenade. Do I get to always make the best choice, or do I have to figure out what risk is acceptable to me beforehand and then determine wether or not I'm gonna skirmish or throw a grenade *before* I see my overcharge roll?

Appreciate any help. ^^
