I'm trying to arrange an overnight cycling trip in the UK with a couple of friends, and need some ideas for a destination. We're based in London, Hampshire and Yorkshire. The plan is to meet somewhere in the middle (getting there by car or train) and do a route of around 100-150km, breaking it up with a night in a nice pub.

It looks like somewhere near Leicester/Derby/Nottingham would work best, but I wouldn't have a clue where to go around there. We're looking for quiet country lanes (no gravel) with some decent pub options.

Any suggestions?
