This happened yesterday and I need training tips. I was watching my aunts food aggressive yorkie (this story is not about the yorkie’s training) yesterday. I have a happy, what I thought was pretty well trained black lab. I went to feed my aunt’s yorkie in a separate room from my lab, the yorkie finished their food, I took the bowl away to prevent guarding, waited 5 minutes for the yorkie to settle after feeding, and opened the door. My black lab walked into the room about 2 minutes later. The yorkie got up and started to chase my lab. My black lab tried to run away while I was trying to separate the yorkie from my lab. Before I could grab either one, the yorkie ran under my black lab’s legs aiming to grab her front paw but before she could my black lab leaned down and bit her hard enough to draw some blood. I put my lab in her crate, grabbed the yorkie gently which then the yorkie then tried to bite me cause she was in pain, I called my aunt to pick up her dog right after it happened, my aunt of course yelled at me saying I need to control my dog, I offered to pay for vet bills as I know it’s my fault for everything that happened.
Now I’m trying to look into training for my black lab, she seems to be back to her normal happy self but, now I’m worried since she bit once, she’ll bite again, and don’t know what training methods would be best for this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
