I’m 36 weeks pregnant with baby 2, my first labour was induced laboured for well over 20 hours and I ended up needing an emergency c section as “failure to progress” baby was getting distressed.

Fast forward almost four years later (son is 4 in August) and I’m due on the 29th of May. I saw my midwife last week who made me really doubt my vbac choice she said and I quote “ you might as well just get an epidural even if you go into spontaneous labour as it’ll be helpful if we end up in an emergency”. I felt so deflated from that comment as I really want to try without an epidural. She said I would be cannulated which is fine and have to wear the monitoring the whole labour, also fine although think that means I can’t get under a hot shower?.

Also I read on a pamphlet they gave me 50% of women are successful in a vbac but if first c section was due to failure to progress that reduces the rate to 25%. Anyway I guess I’m looking for advice ? Encouragement ? I’m not really sure just feeling terrified and almost like I should just opt for a c section for safety reason?

Thank you for reading my novel x
