Are cheap DMX stage lights actually much different from high end fixtures in real-world use
Been looking into DMX stage lights lately and I’m confused about how big the real difference is between cheap fixtures and the expensive ones. I was browsing alibaba the other day and noticed some moving heads and LED PARs have almost the same listed features as the big brands DMX control, RGB colors, gobos, strobe, sound mode, auto programs, all that. Bt I’m guessing specs on paper don’t tell the full story. For people who’ve actually used both, what changes the most? Brightness? Movement? Reliability? Programming? I’ve heard mixed opinions. Some people say budget fixtures are perfectly fine for small events, house parties, churches, or beginner setups. Others say the problems start later with overheating, noisy fans, dead LEDs, weird DMX channels, or inconsistent colors between lights. I’m nt doing huge concert productions or anything serious, so I’m trying to figure out if paying way more actually makes a noticeable difference in real use. Would love to hear honest experiences from people who’ve worked with both cheaper lights?
