I have a Fiesta ST with ~34,000 mi and I’ve started noticing an issue with the transmission.
Once the car is warmed up (after driving for a while), it becomes hard/stiff to shift into 1st and 2nd gear. This only happens when the car is already at operating temperature. From 3rd gear onwards, shifts feel completely smooth and normal.
If I turn the car off and let it sit for about 10 minutes, then start driving again, 1st and 2nd go in smoothly again. Same thing when the car is cold in the morning — no issues at all.
So the problem only shows up after driving for some time.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Any ideas on what could be causing this — synchros, clutch, fluid, something else?
Appreciate any advice or things I should check before taking it in.
