ME to BME (clinical engineering)

Hello all, I have a BS in mechanical engineering but with experience in sales/application engineering. But haven't worked as an engineer in 5-6 years. I am looking to pursue BME (particularly clinical engineering) due to my love of both medical science and technology, and because I actually feel comfortable in hospital environments. My question is how to get into the industry without any healthcare or med tech experience.

While I do have initial education from my engineering degree, I am out of practice with a lot of the material that was covered. I was looking into pursuing a BMET certificate at my local community college to learn the fundamentals and get an entry level BMET job or internship, and possibly work my way into a clinical engineering job down the line. I figured with my lack of experience in healthcare and time away from engineering, I would need to revamp my technical knowledge.

I am very interested in the BMET field and would love some insight as to how I can best pursue a career in it.
