Out with the old and in with the new
Starting a new common place book. I use small kraft paper notebooks in my passport travellers notebooks. The new one is the butterfly book. I covered it with the paper and added the letters. I think i like the way it turned out. Cant wait to fill it.
I see a lot of posts about indexing and i thought i would put my two sense in. I tried indexing before and i didnt really like it as most of the time i find myself not really needing to flip back to finding things but when i do i just use the coloured dot system to help me flip to the pages of a certain topic that im looking for. And then qhen i write something i know for certain that i need to flip back to i just right the page number and the title on the back page. Helps not to chuck up pages of index with lots of stuff i know im not going to need. Obviously doesnt work for everyone but wanted to sgare incase it helped.
I see some very artsy common place journals which are amazing but i wanted to show what my more simplistic one looks like for those that are intimidated by the creative ones like i am. My common place is kept in my travellers notebook and the only thing that might be considered artsy is the front cover. This is my newest one as i filled my last one.
I got a new TN in the passport size and im really loving it. It has three inserts a brain dump, common place and my work one (which is not shown as its private) and it has two files a clear one and a red wallet type one with a pen loop.
Here are two spreads i have made recently that i really like both very different styles
