I’m a mid-senior copywriter recently hired at a a large in-house agency but working on a small account. I’ve always worked brand side so this is my first stint at an agency.

I’d like to develop skills and eventually work up to CD but I seem to be doing a lot of BAU at the moment and it’s not creatively challenging, more so heavy editing and proofing.

The Account Manager has a lot of creative sign-off, is that normal practice on a small account? How is best to approach this with AM so I can get more visibility and take the lead on future campaigns?

For extra context there is a senior designer who has been tasked with some conceptual work but it didn’t require any obvious copy/messaging so I wasn’t asked to collaborate unfortunately. I don’t know for sure but I expect they might be aiming for Art Director progression. Is there space for me to take creative lead or do I need to try and switch to a larger account?
