So I enjoyed Dead Exposure in 2024 but even then i knew it was a generic, kind of uninspired Fright Fest esque maze. Since tho ive learned it was a passion project Murdy has wanted to do since 2019, and i was super surprised to learn that. The maze we got did not feel like a passion project. It felt slapped together. Looking at the concept art, you can see there was a passionate detailed vision designed for the maze, the same goes for the Monstruos mazes for example and the final mazes for Monstruos were spot on with the concept art. With Dead Exposure tho, the concept art is far more detailed and passionate than the sets they made. The sets lack love, detail and effort in comparison to the concept art. Again fun maze, but i get sad looking at the concept art and then how the final maze didn't live up to the creative vision. Hell, instead of the truck having broken glass like the concept art, someone just scribbled on the plexiglass with sharpie. It feels like the final product was thrown together with little care. What do you guys think? Did you like the maze? I enjoyed it as a fun tropey maze, but it was undeniably mediocre, especially compared to the concept art.

Does anyone know why HHN Hollywood in particular stopped making 3d mazes? I never got to experience any of them but in particular Black Sabbath 13 3d and Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 3d looked spectacular to me. And i love the colors in particular a lot. But i was wondering why they would have stopped making them. I had heard previously that they didn't rank well with guests, but i found out that HHN Hollywoods first 3d maze, House of 1000 Corpses 3D for 2010 and 2011 at the time was the highest guest rated maze of the Hollywood event. And the aforementioned mazes looked amazing as well. But heres wherr I get to my first theory. 3D didn't cause the ratings to go down, bad maze design did. Because Hollywood's last 2 3d mazes were just not good plain and simple. Clowns 3d did not do well with guests and was as shallow as the name it was given. Then even worse, the last 3d maze Hollywood did was This is the End, which lets just be frank here nothing about that film is horror at all. So surprise surprise no one liked it. Im thinking those last 2 stinkers simply gave the impression that ppl didn't want 3d mazes anymore.

My second theory is a simpler one, Universal Hollywood didn't want to be seen as a 3d park anymore come 2016 so one of their first changes was to tell Murdy to stop making 3d mazes to help them pivot away from that reputation.

What did you guys think of these mazes? What reason do you guys think we donr get 3d mazes anymore? I would love to discuss this topic.
