I bought a tiny house that had gorgeous wood in the main living area and it came with a note that the floor came from an old gymnasium and some left over boards were in the shed. The shed was a miserable feral cat house but there were a stack of boards that I couldn’t bear to throw out. Now that I’m refinishing the bathroom in another house that is in an acre and a half of woods in the middle of the city I thought there might be just enough to do the floor. I know wood in a bathroom is controversial but I don’t have kids (splashy?) and someone online said I was working with eucalyptus robusta which is suppose to be tolerant. I’m also leaning into chic cabin as my vibe for the house. So far I’ve cleaned with mineral spirits but have bona classic sealer and traffic hd on the way. The pic with loose board was all that remained. One challenge I had was that the tongues weren’t on the same side given the orientation so I had to used some 1/4 square dowel rods to marry two female borders in a few spots and then work outward. Just looking to share but confirmation on wood species would be great if anyone knows. Thanks.
