Hi everyone,

I’m trying to decide between the X-Mid 2 and the X-Mid 2 Solid for 3-season hiking in southern Scandinavia.

I’ll mostly use it from early spring to mid/late autumn and I expect to use it roughly as much in spring and autumn as in summer. I’m not planning proper winter camping, but the conditions can still be cold, wet, and windy. The days can be hot and nights around or below freezing are possible in spring and autumn, and I’ve had sub-zero nights even in late May. Spring and Autumn can be very damp, with cold nights, fog, rain, wet ground, and lots of condensation potential.

Summer is mixed. Some nights can be cool enough that wind protection feels useful, maybe around 5–12°C, especially inland, near forests/lakes, or in exposed spots. Other nights can be much warmer and humid, around 15–20°C, where maximum ventilation sounds more appealing. So I’m trying to balance shoulder-season comfort against summer airflow.

For this kind of northern European 3-season use with cold, wet, windy shoulder seasons, but also warm and humid summer nights; which would you choose: X-Mid 2 or X-Mid 2 Solid?

Thanks!
