I’ve been working on a workflow that identifies the customers of specific SaaS products by scraping their unique JS snippets or "powered by" footprints. For example, finding everyone using xxx.com by scanning for their widget code.
Then, the script enriches those domains to find LPR (CEO/CTO) emails via Apollo/Hunter and queues up a personalized, cold outreach campaign offering my "competing" software as a better/cheaper alternative.
Technically, it’s a fun challenge involving PublicWWW and some automation. But as I’m about to hit "send" on the first 1,000 emails, I’m having mixed feelings.
On one hand: It’s highly targeted. I’m helping users find a potentially better tool.
On the other hand: It feels a bit like "digital poaching."
