So, I could not contact Luisa a second time - I’m assuming her inbox is full of questions regarding the shop atm.

Another BDH Redditor and I did a bunch of research to find out what it would cost etc.

Basically, I’m not sure it’s practical. Customs could be up to 30%, and the flat cost of the cards are $46 to begin with. So NOT COUNTING shipping, we are looking at $62 for just the foiled cards.

Because of the issues with shipping to a German friend (several kind German BDH friends offered and I’m grateful), I’m not sure it’s cheaper - you have to ship twice, I can’t get a clear answer on what, if anything, we’d save on customs costs, and what happens if a package gets lost in the mail?

So, if I was going to do this, it’d be direct shipping to me, but then again we are looking at up front costs of $46 per item plus the $85 shipping split between how ever many participants - even if say 8 people want to join, $56 each + whatever customs end up being, plus around + $6 for me to ship to each participant. Looks like it would be between $70- $80 for one set of cards.

Because of the cost, I’m on the fence. I didn’t know it would be *that* much - as much as I love the cards I’m considering just ordered a print or two from Inprint.

Thoughts?

So, I’m very interested in Luisa Pressler’s foiled This Kingdom character cards.

But… shipping is 78 euros 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I emailed Luisa about the possibility of a group order and this was her response:

I can only use DHL Express to send you goods. Now, depending on the size of the package and the value (I can only send a value of 999 Euros per package), shipping would be between 80 and 100 Euros. There might be other solutions on the DHL Ship Now website, I would need to open an account there to get more info.

Please also keep in mind that all shipments to the US are subject to import duties, regardless of order value. So that would come on top.

Another possible solution could be if you know a person in Germany who can order from my store and send the goods to you declared as a gift.

Since I am a business I cannot send orders out as gifts, but any person who doesn’t own a business is able to just send a package via normal DHL for around 26 Euros (depending on size of course, don’t know how much you’re planning to order :D). It’s tracked and everything. 

Of course, this person would still need to declare the value of the gift, which would be subject to import duties. I’m not advising you to lie here, but since this person wouldn’t put an invoice in the package, it’s hard to tell for the people working at customs to find out how much the value really is.

If you’re really considering a group order, please get in touch with me and we can work on finding a good solution.

I’m also currently looking into whether I need to limit the number of items per order, as I wouldn’t be able to ship very large quantities (like 100 rolled prints) in a single package due to size and value restrictions.
