Hi everyone, thanks a lot for the interest in my last post. I got a few repeated questions in my DMs, so here’s some extra info:

Currently, I only offer two types of lessons

1. Pronunciation lessons

  • Around 12 sessions (can be shorter if you already have a good base)
  • Focus on improving pronunciation, listening, and speaking
  • Good for beginners or anyone struggling with Vietnamese sounds

2. Daily conversation / Q&A support

  • I added this recently based on requests
  • If you’re self-studying and get stuck, I can help explain things. Or we can just practice real conversations: I’ll correct your pronunciation, vocab, and major grammar mistakes
  • Best for people who already have their own materials and just need guidance + practice

Pricing

  • Around $10/hour for pronunciation lessons
  • Option 2 is more flexible/cheaper depending on what you need (we can discuss)
  • If money is tight but you really want to learn, feel free to DM me, we can work something out

We’ll study online via Google Meet. If you’re in Ho Chi Minh City, I’m open to offline sessions too (as long as it’s not too far).

I appreciate you taking the time to read.

Hi everyone,

I recently got back into tutoring Vietnamese after about a year off, and from what I’ve seen here, a lot of you struggle with listening. From my perspective, there are 2 main issues:

  1. You hear the word wrong

Like I say “hủ tiếu” but you hear “hủ tiêu”, “hủ thiều”, “thu tiền”… → pronunciation problem

  1. You hear it correctly but don’t understand it

→ vocab/grammar problem

It’s not a perfect split, but it helps you figure out where you’re stuck.

I’m thinking of focusing on pronunciation sessions, mainly for case 1. The goal is simple:

- You can read aloud any word even if you don’t know it

- You can write down what you hear even if you don’t understand it

Just wondering if anyone here is in that situation and would actually be interested, and what price range feels reasonable to you.

Also, I teach based on the standard system Vietnamese students learn, so it leans northern accent. It’s a solid base and makes it easier to pick up other dialects later.

And just to be clear, if your issue is more about vocab (case 2), this probably won’t help much. Also, I’m not a Vietnamese teacher, I just have a bit of experience tutoring a foreign friend from my uni, honestly.

Hope to hear your thoughts, and wishing you lots of fun on your Vietnamese learning journey

Hope to hear your thoughts, and wishing you lots of fun on your Vietnamese learning journey.
