Citibike Stolen From Wegmans In BK/Tracked It To Bldg W/Cops/Didn't Find It
I always take a bike to grocery shop at Wegmans. Left it unattended for 5 mins. It was gone when I got out. I know, my fault.
Obv was able to track the guy. Rode around Dumbo area for an hour or so. The bike eventually stopped at a public housing building near me (at Gold St. and York St.)
Waited for it to be stopped for 30 mins. Found a cop car on street. They were actually unable to move bc there was a shooting at another nearby building. They called a new car. Two housing cops walked me through the entire 15 story building (including roof and basement). We didn't find the bike. Probably in somebody's apartment.
I got a notice to "end ride" and I did...So the bike is now useless, but also I lost the GPS.
What is my recourse with Citibike, if any? I know they charge up to $1200 for a lost or stolen bike.
The guy will likely dump the bike (but probably won't redock it).
