I wrote a fantasy novel in the vein of Studio Ghibli inspired by my occult practices. It features Christian Rosenkreutz, John Dee, Edward Kelley, and Michael Sendivogius, and it’s currently free.
In the court of Emperor Rudolf II, a woman was brought out of a painting. She was rumored to be the most beautiful woman ever painted, but no one knew for certain, since in the painting, she was depicted with her back turned to the viewer. When she came out into this world, she turned around to face Rudolf II's court, and they saw...she had a beard. She was cursed and, along with having a beard, she had no memories. This is the story of her going to the Castle of Animiatry (where curses are healed and black magicians are redeemed) to seek treatment from Christian Rosenkreutz. Along the way, she befriends a black cat named Bob and a gentle, kind man named Thomas. But, unfortunately, while she was seeking treatment, the witch who cursed her was brought out of the painting by a black magician, and this witch didn't want to see her curse removed.
There's lots of subtle metaphors throughout the book. For instance, being born cursed is a metaphor for original sin as described by Martinez de Pasqually, and her treatment for the curse and the restoration of her memories and becoming who she truly is a metaphor for reintegration. Also, her treatment includes invoking her Bon Compagnon, which was Pasqually’s term for the Holy Guardian Angel.
