I take a photo every time there is a interesting train driving by. I always carry around a camera with me, so i look kinda serious.

Every time, the driver honks at me. Sometimes it scares me, sometimes it doesn't.

Are they angry at me?

Note: I do not hang around dangerously close to railroads. I keep a hefty distance from them

Where i live, trains use a 3kV DC system.

Would it be possible, to use some kind of DC-AC converter, step it down to 230V, and power a house, for free.

I guess that the maintenance folks will catch on quickly.
