OP NOTES: BARK BARK BARK! I go feral for the painted lady and blue spirit fanart 😩
Anyone knows the source? Straight from tiktok.
I get it, AI is mostly frowned upon. And as some of you might’ve noticed already, I do support real artists as much as I can. But what I’m about to confess might make some people here angry at me.
I use ChatGPT to somewhat render scenes I’m currently reading. And lemme tell you… they’re PEAK. I somehow developed the greatest prompt ever and the fangirl inside me is completely fulfilled
Do not fret, it’s not like I’m dumping the any kind of quotations into the AI or feeding it real fanart. I’ve got a lot of free time on my hands, so I usually write the scenes out myself and stylize them into a dark fantasy aesthetic.
I’d share them, but I’ve noticed people will spam hate at every possible chance whenever someone posts AI stuff. I find that mildly upsetting because… I thought it was allowed by the rules? And aren’t we supposed to be respectful towards each other around here?
Anyways, I’ve got quite the stash already. Maybe I’ll just wing it and post them here directly. Depends on what the reactions to this post end up being.
Just so we’re clear, though, I’m not taking insults. I genuinely couldn’t care less if you think you’re morally right or whatever. Don’t cuss at me.
I had this kind of crazy plot idea. I’ll start by saying I’m not really into the pregnancy trope, nor plots that revolve exclusively around children, which is funny because this idea is basically that.
Most fics end with their marriage, and some include an epilogue after a timeskip. I’ve noticed the Zutara family is commonly portrayed as having three children, with the eldest usually being a firebender. Most of the time it’s also a girl. We all know Zuko would be a girl dad. It feels like a semi-canon nod to Izumi or even Azula when it comes to design and personality. That’s fine by me. I’d actually love to see a Fire Lady heir ruling the Fire Nation.
**But I’ve been wondering how it would play out if, just for fun, their child developed blue firebending. If they were some kind of prodigy, very similar to Azula, but raised in a caring family. It would be interesting to explore the PTSD aspects tied to that, poor Zutara. Most people have never really seen how destructive that kind of fire can be, so i’d be overlooked. At the same time, it’s kind of poetic that their child would produce a fire that’s the same color as water.
It would be really interesting to explore that paradox of awe and fear in the parents’ eyes. The Fire Nation would probably be ecstatic, but what about the parents? If they had other children, would they ever question who should be next in line? I mean, they probably wouldn’t act on it, but the thought might still cross their minds. Usually the eldest is the “perfect” heir, while the others are more rebellious, so it’s fun to think about how that dynamic would shift.
The emotional angle: Katara especially might spiral a bit at first. Not because she doesn’t love the child, but because she knows what unchecked power and emotional instability can do. Meanwhile, Zuko would probably be hyper-aware and overcorrect, trying to make sure this child never feels isolated the way Azula did.
The political angle: The Fire Nation would absolutely romanticize this. Blue fire would be seen as a sign of strength, legacy, maybe even destiny. That puts pressure on the child to be the “perfect heir”, even if the parents don’t want that.
The sibling dynamic: If the eldest is the prodigy, the others might either feel overshadowed or relieved. If the blue fire kid isn’t the eldest, then you get a succession dilemma, even if it’s mostly internal.
The symbolism: Fire that looks like water is honestly such a good poetic detail. Especially with Katara as the mother, there’s something almost unsettling about it. Calm color, devastating power. It mirrors how people misread both elements.
Has anyone ever read a fic that explores something like this, or how would you personally develop this idea?
OP NOTES: do you think they’d call her Izumi? It means “source of water” after all…
OP NOTES: I’ll leave you to it, sorry for flashing Aangham Lincoln at you guys.
EDIT: I meant in both LOK and the new movie, but mostly in LOK
OP NOTES: meant for the angst lovers… for all of us, truly.
Jinora’s tattoo ceremony is a pretty huge cultural moment for the Air Nation, so you’d expect Katara to be there, especially given how close she was to Aang and how much she supposedly valued his culture…
EDIT: My headcanon is that she’s been through so much because of all this Air Nation ordeal that nowadays she’d rather have nothing to do with it.
