Im a first time creator. I’ve backed roughly 6 other projects so I’m familiar. My campaign has been stuck at 51% for about 3 days now and I’m wondering if anyone has advice or specific paths I should consider to keep momentum going?

I’m doing the outreach work, today I plan to create a new tier that may make cold audiences feel more comfortable taking a risk, but what else SHOULD I be doing right now with 21 days left to hit my goal?

Thanks to anyone willing to give advice.

I had a moment with him that I still think about.

He asked me why none of the kids on the shows he watches look like him. I’m pretty intentional about what he watches—mostly early-learning shows, with a little flexibility here and there.

And honestly… I didn’t have a good answer.

It made me realize how early kids notice these things—even when we think they don’t.

For other parents here—have your kids ever said something like that? Or had a moment that really made you pause?

I’d genuinely love to hear your experiences.

Building a children’s media brand in public.

About a year ago, my son asked why none of the children on the early-learning shows he watched looked like him.

That question stayed with me, so I started building Honor’s House — a children’s brand focused on confidence, learning, and representation through books, music, and animation.

This week we launched our Kickstarter ahead of our June animated series release and are already at 49% funded with 14 backers.

I’m building this while working full-time and raising my son, so every step has been late nights, learning as I go, and figuring things out in real time.

Now that it’s public, there’s a different kind of pressure too — showing up consistently, executing in real time, and building something people can actually believe in.

Current focus:

• Finish Kickstarter strong

• Grow organic audience

• Prepare animated series launch in June

• Build something that lasts

Would love to connect with other founders building mission-driven brands in public.

What helped you grow your first real audience organically once your project was finally out in the world?

I’m building a children’s media startup called Honor’s House focused on confidence, learning, and representation through books, music, and animation.

It started after my son asked why none of the children on the early-learning shows he watched looked like him.

We just launched our Kickstarter to build early awareness and momentum ahead of our June animated series release, and have seen encouraging traction. But I know the bigger challenge is long-term growth: building an organic audience around a niche mission-driven brand.

For founders who’ve built niche consumer brands:

  1. How did you find your earliest true fans?

  2. Best low-cost ways to reach parents/families organically?

  3. How would you build trust when you’re pre-mainstream and pre-budget?

  4. If you had $0–$500/month, where would you focus first?

Would appreciate honest founder advice as I build this the right way.

I’m a parent and recently launched my first Kickstarter for a children’s brand focused on confidence, learning, and representation after my son asked why none of the kids on the shows he watched looked like him.

That question stayed with me.

I’d love to ask this community: what books, shows, or creators have made your child feel represented and excited to learn?

I’m also building an animated series this summer, so I’m genuinely looking for feedback from parents on what matters most today.

If anyone wants to see the project, happy to share the link in comments.
