First impression. Wow

I just got the Meta Quest 3, installed Half-Life: Alyx and about €100 worth of other games… and honestly, Alyx has completely blown my mind.

It feels real. I’m genuinely in awe. At the same time, it’s actually a bit terrifying. I caught myself hesitating to even turn a skull around in my hand or get close to zombies. The level of detail and immersion is insane. I didn’t expect it to feel like this.

On the other hand, Horizon Worlds was a terrible first impression. I got thrown straight into it with zero guidance, and within seconds there were kids running around shouting the n-word. I didn’t even know how to leave. Total chaos.

Also, connecting everything has been frustrating. I bought the €80 Link cable, but I’m not convinced my 4070 laptop is fully using it, maybe because of USB limitations. That said, it charges while playing and I’m on fast Ethernet, so performance is still solid. I’m getting around 120fps and great visuals.

The annoying part is the inconsistency. Sometimes Quest Link or SteamVR just doesn’t cooperate. It’ll say the headset is asleep or fail to connect properly. It feels a bit random, but I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

Overall though, Alyx alone made this worth it. Grabbing ammo and things with your left hand and shooting with your right. So cool
