Many of you are probably already familiar with the tale of Earl Shaffer, allegedly the first man to walk the Appalachian trail in its entirety, and how he did it all in a pair of Russell backcountrys.

What you might not know, is that apparently he did it all without socks!

This got me wondering if maybe I'm missing out on something and if there are others who can share the gospel of sockless mocs to us uninitiated?
