My first attempt at dialing settings....wow! (.4 nozzle)

had my printer for over a year now with very little use (admittedly I was intimidated to start anything serious) and finally kicked myself in the ass to sit down and learn a bit after studying this subreddit and a few YouTube channels for a while now.

Printed this owlbear head as practice with settings and to practice painting and kinda blown away by what my .4 nozzle can achieve.

Decapitated him to have the facing upwards so it didn't need any supports for the face and mouth and it worked great. I'll be trying the rest of the body soon.

A little stringing and a little roughness on the top layers of the bottom feathers but other than that? Kinda insane. Got my lighter a little too close and that's why the tip of the beak is a little rough. Whoopsie. But not bad for my first real try! (R-right?) Tiny one has a little roughness around the sides of the mouth but tbh I got my printer to do larger figures anyway, so the fact it does nice minis at all is just a bonus. I plan on getting a .2 nozzle eventually and can't wait to see what it can do. But for now I have the painting skills of a blind newt so I want to practice up on that (pls pray for me) and for me the larger .4 prints are good enough for that right now😁

Thanks for all the info everyone puts out both on here and YouTube and the immense work you all put into this hobby❤️
