Just a heads up for anyone planning a summer trip to MacArthur Burney Falls State Park. The park is now requiring reservations on Fridays, weekends and holidays between May 15 and September 27. As a Shasta County local, I’m both happy and sad. Happy that something is being done because summer crowds have gotten way out of control and illegal parking on the highway has become a huge problem for the small community of Burney. For years, I’ve avoided it in the summer due to the issue. However, I’m also sad that my local state park won’t be something I can just spur of the moment run up to anymore at least May through September. But I guess that’s just living in a high population state these days.
