I have a Sennheiser HD 6XX, and recently I acquired a HiFiMan Edition XS. I was looking for a better and more pronounced bass with a bit brighter upper range.
But what I found is my HD-6XX has more pronounced and better bass and sub-bass than the HiFiMan. Drums sound so much better on the Sennheiser.
Also, the edition XS seems to be too bright and a little bit distorted in the upper range.
And the overall level of detail is significantly better on the Sennheiser in my opinion.
What the Edition XS does incredibly is the sound stage, which is unlike anything I have ever heard before.
What am I missing here? Am I just too used to the Sennheiser sound and therefore that is what I prefer, or does the Edition XS actually lack mid and low range?
I am running both of them on a Topping G5 and using Tidal.
The Sennheiser has a Denon ear pad, I can't recall which kind.
