Hi everyone,

I recently had my passport police verification done for renewal and I’m a bit anxious about something the officer said.

Here’s my situation:

I’ve been living at my maternal uncle’s (mama’s) house for 6+ years
My Aadhaar is updated to this address
During verification, I provided all documents and an eyewitness (neighbor) also confirmed that I live here

Initially, the officer asked about my “permanent address” and I told him my parents live in Jammu, but I’ve been staying here for years.

At that point, he said something like: “Theek hai, wahan se bhi check kar lete hain.”

But this was before he spoke to the eyewitness. After the local confirmation, he didn’t raise anything further and just left. He also didn’t ask for any extra documents or anything.

Timeline:

3rd: Called to police station
4th: Home visit done
5th (today): Passport status still unchanged

My questions:

Is it normal for officers to casually mention checking another city?
If local address + Aadhaar + witness are verified, can they still initiate another verification?
How long does it usually take for status to update after home verification?

Would really appreciate hearing from people who’ve had similar experiences. I might just be overthinking this 😅
