Portfolio woes for ARCP - any suggestions on solutions and what will happen if they don’t get sorted?
So I kind of messed up a bit with my CT1 portfolio this year.
I filled in the wrong form for my initial induction meetings and have only just realised. My supervisors for my rotations were not knowledgeable about portfolio (literally asked them about it at the time and they didn’t know) and so did not pick it up either (they just signed the wrong form). One is now on leave until after the deadline for submission of portfolio.
They also did not know we were meant to have an end of placement meeting so that has not formally happened either for the first placement (although they were happy to sign the form based on the very informal meeting we had close to the end of the placement - I am not sure if this is actually ok or not).
I also need still to have my formal meeting to review portfolio prior to ARCP so that form can be filled in but I am a little concerned that organising that is going to be tricky as trying to pin them down is a bit hard.
I do have other bits required for my portfolio (including MSF, teaching and QIP) and the rest of the bits are solvable (a few bits here and there I need to sort but all very much in hand), but I am really worried that these supervisor bits will be my downfall.
I realise this is my fault, I should have been on it sooner, but I have just felt so overwhelmed by the portfolio this whole year and generally felt overwhelmed by starting specialty training (the job is fine and I am generally well thought of on the wards but I am well past the point of burn out if I am honest). I have not felt particularly well supported by my allocated supervisors though which has made it more difficult.
What happens if you don’t manage to get some bits by the deadline? Is there anyone additional I should speak to? Any other suggestions on how I can try better to resolve this? Finally, how worried should I be?
