How Can I Best Prepare?

Hello,

I am a current US MD student starting my third year in a few weeks. I just got the pass report for Step 1 today and I’m still riding that high.

I want to put a stronger and more concerted effort into preparing for Step 2. I admittedly had a lot of anxiety behind Step 1 and I feel that better preparation would help alleviate this in the future.

What are some great resources I can use for study? Also what study plans have worked for you? I just want to get as much info as I can so that I can start preparing in a timely fashion.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Step 1 Passed!!!

Happy to say that I ended up passing my boards. My results on the various NBMEs and sites I used are below.

Form 27: 49

Form 28: 64

Form 29: 61

Form 30: 65

School-Assigned CBSE: 61

Free120: 61

UWorld: 50% correct on 88% completed (3228/3659)

Anki was my mainstay and I read and annotated the entirety of Pathoma. Large swaths of the FirstAid book were covered as well. I initially started out on Bootcamp, but stopped as this felt like it was taking too long.

One thing that I wish I took more seriously was microbiology. More time on sketchy and many more anki cards on that subject would have made me feel more confident. I also wish that I could have finished more of UWorld and reviewed a lot more of the questions because, more than anything else, it felt like it was my strongest and most helpful resource.

I did it and you can too. Good luck to everyone who has yet to take it.
