Leaf and Quiet is racist and not safe for our community
I need to call out someone in our local community who has shown a clear pattern of racist behavior.
She told me I can’t be Indigenous because I have blonde hair and blue eyes. That’s racial gatekeeping based on a colonial stereotype.
She insists on using the term “gypsy jazz” even after being told “gypsy” is a slur against Romani people.
When a Black woman called her out on any of this, she attacked her in the comments.
That’s not ignorance. That’s a pattern.
She has proven, on multiple counts, that she:
· Dismisses Indigenous identity based on appearance.
· Refuses to respect Romani people’s right to not be called a slur.
· Silences and attacks Black women who speak up.
She is not safe for this community.
Racism doesn’t have to be yelling slurs in the street.
Sometimes it’s deciding who “looks” Indigenous, using words a whole people have asked you not to use, and attacking anyone who objects.
I’m not here to debate my ancestry or my hair. I’m here to warn you: if you’re Indigenous, Romani, Black, or anyone who expects basic respect — be careful around her. She has shown you exactly who she is.
