I had 2 small rock chips on my leased 2024 Chevy Equinox EV windshield that unfortunately spread into a larger crack.

I have GEICO, but my deductible is high ($1k), and Safelite’s estimate is coming out to more than that. Because of that, I’m considering going with an independent installer I’ve used before on one of my ICE cars. He quoted me around $650 installed (including calibration).

My concern is since this is a leased vehicle - would going with independent installer potentially cause issues at lease return?

Anyone here gone through something similar with a leased EV? Did the leasing company care whether the windshield was OEM vs aftermarket? TIA
