So I’ve recently come to find out that my cousin is pregnant, but when hooyo mentioned it to me there was a word that I didn’t quite fully understand. My cousin is in her ‘walac’ period and has moved back with my auntie.
I want to understand what this period is and is it this a cultural thing where pregnant daughter moves back home and is taken care of by the hooyo? My cousin is married so was wondering where is the husband during this time, and if you guys have been through this then how did you balance it all? Also my mum also mentioned something to do with 40 days after she gives birth that we will have to help her. What does this look like for her, my mum said it’s huge thing. I’m just genuinely intrigued as this is a first occurrence of someone pregnant that is close to me.
