the cover was pink. i read it in elementary school and remember absolutely loving it because i had never read a book that had a texting format for certain dialogue with her friends that was supposed to be over the phone. if i remember correctly the mc had just moved from somewhere and was starting a new school, maybe 6th grade, and there was a mean girl that did not like her, possibly due to a boy.
i don't remember much about the book, besides the fact that we read it as a class maybe 3rd grade circa 2016. i remember the author came to a theater in my city and we had a field trip where she talked about writing the book and her mother telling her the stories that would eventually make up her book. the book was told from the perspective of the mother and i believe the cover was a beige color. i might be inserting this from another story but i have a vague memory of the mother stating she got separated from her dad and/or a sibling at a train station and never saw them again.
