Rockstar has always released high quality games Midnight club, GTA series, Max Payne, Bully, Table tennis(a personal fave) etc. A boatload of all time classic games. But if I’m also being completely honest with myself RDR2 and GTAV are leagues beyond those games in terms of quality, detail and scale, not the stories but the entire game itself as a whole is in a different league. And these games take time, a lot of it.
I’m curious to see the route Rockstar goes after GTAVI and if they’ll start to have more frequent releases again or squeeze out every dollar of this fatass cash cow kind of like they did for GTAV.
My question that I’m just curious of others thoughts on is: Do you think Rockstar takes so long between games now because each one makes so much money and they’re in no rush? —>Or do you think they have now transitioned into a developer who will only put out these massive, perfectly detailed and developed worlds/stories?(which takes a lot of time)
I personally think it’s leaning more into the 2nd bucket because I love Rockstar and truly trust them with every day they spend developing a new game. But I would also love to see more releases out of them in the future because they are capable of releasing smaller games that are still amazing.
Edit: I'm totally aware of how much I'm glazing Rockstar but I also have no doubt that GTAVI will be a video game that transcends all modern video games. It will be the type of game that separates Rockstar from any other type of developer.
