Does this room need new sofas or just a better plan?

I’d love some help freshening up my living room in my small historic home. The heirloom chest/coffee table is the one piece that absolutely has to stay, but otherwise I’m open to ideas.

The current sofas are IKEA Ektorps. Structurally they’re still fine, but the slipcovers are looking tired. I can’t decide whether replacing the covers would be enough to refresh the room, or whether I should start over with entirely new seating.

I’m especially stuck on color. The rest of the house is Sherwin Williams Spare White with blue and gray accents, so I’ve considered:

- a bold teal slipcover for contrast
- sticking with something softer like gray
- or going in a completely different direction

The chair in the corner is definitely leaving — it’s uncomfortable and wastes space in a room where I’m trying to maximize seating.

Right now the living room feels like the least “finished” room in the house, and I’d love ideas for making it a showstopper. Thanks so much for any help!

Hey friends, where are we at on banning data centers in Richmond City?

Fascinating WSJ podcast episode yesterday about localities preemptively banning data centers rather than deal with the conflict it brings unannounced. The most recent r/RVA thread I could find on this was a couple of months old — what phase are we actually in right now in Richmond City in terms of restrictions/bans getting into law?

Obviously, feel free to chime in after you’ve listened to this episode. Bans harmful? Helpful? I went into this with a truly open mind because I didn’t/don’t know enough to get a pitchfork. I have my opinion, but will always consider new information!
