I’m mostly a self taught artist but I feel like I need to completely relearn everything from scratch, and I have no clue in the slightest about how to go about it or where to start. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, but I was always sorta ended up getting pushed into doing realism. Between bullying and teachers telling me there was a “right way” to do everything, I feel like my creativity kinda got shut down really early on so I really struggle to draw anything that isn’t something I can see and it almost feels like it’s been blocked off, it’s there but I just can’t access it if that makes sense

I’ve been struggling with transitioning into digital art and I want to eventually write and illustrate my own webcomics, but I just feel stuck and everything about it is so different. When it comes to traditional art I can draw something with a reference pretty well, but when it comes to drawing without one or just being more stylized/creative, I struggle A LOT and I tend get discouraged really easily when something doesn’t turn out how I want, especially since I’ve always held myself to high standards

So basically I’m hoping to start over from the ground up. Including relearning the basics, but this time in a way that actually allows me to be creative. Has anyone else gone through something similar? If so how did you break out of it and reshape your art skills? I’d really appreciate any advice, exercises, or specific videos/resources that helped y’all

Also I’ll be adding some of my traditional art as well as some digital art I did for another subreddit, but for some reason I don’t have hardly any photos of my art on my phone so sorry 2 of them are pretty frikin old 😭
