23M, looking for honest advice on my path forward.

Background: Originally CS major, barely cared, graduated with a really rough GPA. Switched to the nursing field after realizing CS wasn't for me. Currently on track to finishing my nursing degree in 2 years, and when final grades this semester are put in my GPA should rise to a 2.87 and assuming I continue to do well I will graduate nursing school with a 3.1-3.2 on the high end I have 2 years remaining for my nursing school when I start in the fall

Genuinely passionate about cardiovascular medicine after taking A&P 1 and 2 and doing well in both. Long term goal is potentially interventional cardiology but being realistic about the timeline.

Current plan: Finish nursing degree → work as nurse while knocking out remaining pre med reqs → apply to cardiac perfusion school → work 1-2 years as perfusionist → SMP → MCAT → apply MD/DO

My Questions right now are:

  1. Is this timeline realistic or am I delusional?
  2. Anyone come from a clinical background like perfusion into med school and how did adcoms respond to it?
  3. How do you honestly balance wanting a family with residency?
  4. do I just finish perfusion and stay there?

Looking for real answers not sugarcoating,
