Occasional posts here run the gamut from asking are non-competes legal, how do I get out of one, are they enforceable, how do I not get caught? I think it begs still another question, why do we sign them in the first place just to get a job if we have no intention of honoring them in the end? What would happen if we stood up as a profession and said we are not signing these, or least wise negotiate their terms to something more palatable? What if no employer could find anyone willing to work for them for offering a non-compete? For a profession that bases itself on ethics and integrity, how is our signing non-competes we do not intend to honor not disingenuous?
