First Quilt Questions - photo printing, charm packs, pre washing/shrinking

Hello all! Started my first quilt today! I have sewn together 10inch blocks and printed out photos on EQ Printables fabric sheets. Things are going well! But I’m not sure what to do next. I’m starting to think maybe I got ahead of myself haha

  1. The EQ instructions say they work like a color catcher and to prewash the other fabric to prevent bleeding onto the photos. The blocks I made are out of 5 inch charm blocks. From what I’ve read, charm packs aren’t typically washed before use.

Will the photos last without a pre wash? Or am I sent myself up for a mess?

(From what I understand some fading will occur overtime with the photo blocks. I get they’re not the most durable, but I don’t want them to be ruined right off the bat haha)

  1. I bought 3 charm packs, 2 say they’ve been pre washed…1 doesn’t specify. Am I also creating a mess for shrinking after the quilt is finished? Everything I’m using is 100% cotton so I know they’ll be some shrinkage, although maybe not since the photo blocks can’t go in heat.

I know these might be obvious answers, but again, first quilt haha! Thanks 🙏
